Compared to last week, demand and movement remained steady.
Drought conditions across much of the state continue to intensify, placing
additional stress on crop and hay production.
Hay supplies remain tight, with significant volumes moving out of state
to meet demand.
Prices have begun to increase as available supplies become more limited.
According to the US Drought Monitor for the week of August 27th, the
High Plains saw a mixture of drought degradation and localized improvement.
Rapid drought deterioration continued across southern Kansas and southeastern
Colorado, where dry conditions and excessive heat aggravated
agricultural impacts.
In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions
(D0) decreased to 24%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased to 23%, severe
drought (D2) increased to 23%, there was no extreme drought (D3) or exceptional
drought (D4) recorded with 30% of the state experiencing no
drought.
