DTN COMMENTS:  A few more bids are now on the table in parts of Nebraska, 
but the rest of cattle country remains quiet. Some asking prices have 
been noted around $235 to $238 in the South, but they are not established 
in the North. Significant trade volume will be delayed until later this 
afternoon or most likely Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 117,000 head, not comparable to last week, but 
1,000 less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed moderately to mostly 
sharply higher on both live (up 75 to 165) and feeder (up 70 to 287) 
contracts. Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with moderate to 
good box movement.
