DTN COMMENTS: A light trade has developed in most areas with Northern
dressed deals marked at $380, $10 higher than last week's weighted
average, basis Nebraska. Southern live deals are ranging from $228 to
$230, $4 to $6 higher than the prior week's weighted averages.
Some asking prices remain firm around $230-plus in the South, and $380-
plus in the North.
Beef cutouts are mixed at midday (choice 383.55 -1.11, select 372.38
+1.52) with light to moderate box movement (67.80 lds of choice cuts,
10.26 lds of select cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 3.92 lds of ground). Both
live and feeder cattle futures are sharply higher at the top of the noon
hour.
